Notre Dame suffered a significant blow when EDGE Keon Keeley canceled of them a few weeks ago. Their loss is now the potential gain for any school looking for defensive line help in the 2023 class.
One of the programs paying attention to Keely is Florida, where he will “definitely” visit this fall, according to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons. On Saturday, Keeley will also take an official visit with the Buckeyes for Ohio State’s game against Notre Dame.
Keeley (6-foot-6, 242 pounds) is a five-star recruit who is ranked as the No. 1 EDGE in his class and as high as No. 7 nationally. After Lakeland (Fla.) star cornerback Kormani McClain, he might be the best uncommitted player in the nation.
Last season as a junior, Keely put up some impressive numbers, including 35 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks and 22 quarterback hits. on 247Sports. Here is his highlight for 2021:
Keeley has a total of 22 offers, including one from Alabama, which is considered the favorite to get his commitment from some. However, Florida may be second, according to Gators Wire.
“Although there is no set date for Keeley’s trip to Florida, he is regularly communicating with the team and planning things. Simmons said some sources consider the Gators a “close second” to Bama, so a memorable official visit could make the difference.
Now, Florida is ranked number 10 in the 2023 recruiting class, just a shade ahead of Tennessee. Landing Keely would give any school a significant boost.
