USC signee Yuju Watkins goes for 60 points on senior night

On January 26, Juju Watkins set a record 45 points at Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA). That school record lasted an entire weekend.

The five-star senior and USC signee surpassed her previous high on Tuesday, pouring in 60 points in the undefeated Trailblazers’ win over Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.). Watkins led the team on senior night, also recording 21 and five steals in the 88-39 victory.

Watkins was shooting from Kaitlyn Clarke’s range, nailing a 3-pointer from nearly half-court and somehow besting her 45-point, 16-rebound, eight-assist game from five days ago.

Reporter for the Los Angeles Times Luke Evans tweeted several clips of Watkins’ ethereal performance.

Watkins is ESPN’s top rated player for the Class of 2023. She is a gold medalist, 2020 Sports Illustrated Sports Kid of the Year, two-time Los Angeles Times Girls Basketball Player of the Year and All-American.

In February 2022, she signed with Klutch Sports Group as the agency’s first female athlete client.

“Her ability to be someone that young women and young men look up to as a player … She just has it it,” Klutch Sports Group CEO and founder Rich Paul said in an interview at the time for USA TODAY high school sports.

“She approaches things the right way, she’s very perceptive and very understanding of her surroundings at a very young age. I’ve been around this before so I know what it looks like. I’m excited for what’s to come.”

The Trailblazers, who play their final regular-season game Thursday night, enter with a 25-0 record and the No. 1 MaxPreps ranking.
