Virginia HS canceled its Friday night game after threats on social media

The start of the football season should be a fun and invigorating experience for schools, players, families and fans. Unfortunately, some games (and seasons) must be canceled due to circumstances beyond their control. A school in Virginia canceled its Friday night game for the worst reason.

According to a WHSV reportStrasburgh High School (Va.) has decided to cancel its game against Skyline (Va.) due to threats posted on social media by a student.

The school’s athletics account made the announcement on Twitter:

According to WHSV, Shenandoah County Sheriff Tim Carter said the alleged threats were made by a student in Strasburg.

It’s the school scheduled to visit Broadway (Virginia) this week.
