High School Sports Drama: Florida Father Knocks Out Referee , Forty-one-year-old Jorge Ignacio Aponte-Gonzalez punched an umpire over an argument during his son’s baseball game at Liberty High School in Kissimmee, according to account from the New York Post.
Osceola County Sheriff Marco Lopez says Aponte-Gonzalez’s son was disruptive and was punished by the judge, which led to the confrontation.
“The referee will obviously keep control of the game … Because that’s what they have to do. To make sure the kids learn all about sportsmanship… The kid was being disruptive, so the ref said, “Hey, tone it down,” maintaining control. They went back and forth a bit. I don’t know exactly what was exchanged, but… it upset the father.’

The name of the judge has not been released, but he is said to be 63. The father faces battery charges.
