Miami Central upset IMG Academy in a game that featured a controversial pick six

It was a shortened senior night in Bradenton, Florida. More like senior late afternoon.

IMG Academy (7-1) scored 96 points in the first half of its final home regular-season finale against West Toronto Prep (Ont., Canada), prompting the officials to call it at halftime.

Final: 96-0.

It’s the Ascenders’ seventh straight win since a season-opening loss to Miami Central (Fla.)—No. 3 team in the latest USA TODAY Sports Super 25— in a fierce battle, 20-14.

IMG, currently number 12 in the Super 25, have won their last four matches with a combined total of 254 points to nil, leaving little doubt that the team is one of the most dominant in the country.

And next week’s game may give a clearer picture of just how commanding the IMG football team really is this season.

Next up: a road test against the No. 2 team in the country, St. Frances Academy (Med.).
