Miami Central’s win over IMG Academy set the national high school football scene abuzz Friday night, one of the first notable upsets of a national powerhouse for the 2022 season.
It was a defensive masterpiece by the Rockets, who didn’t allow the home team to score in the second half — a rarity for IMG, a team that has been near the top of the Super 25 standings for the past few years, whether they’re at home or away.
(IMG four-star quarterback Jaden Bradford leaving after one game with an apparent wrist injury certainly didn’t help either.)
When the clock hit zero, it was Miami Central: 20, IMG Academy: 14. The comeback was complete as it headed into halftime down 14-6.
This is a huge win and adds more national credibility to an already strong program at Miami Central, which never hurts in such a huge environment of top teams.
But… the win didn’t come without a bit of controversy — a possible missed call that could have decided the outcome.
Lawayne McCoy’s pick-six early in the fourth quarter would have been the eventual game-winner.
However, after watching the replay, it appears he may have celebrated the result a little early.
Look:
Too soon?
Too close to call?
The show pretty much answers the question –Oh!
