One thing felt off after I watched Google’s Android AI presentation this week. My colleague Andrew Lanxon summed up the issue perfectly: All of Google’s AI use-case examples revolved round spending massive sums of cash on buying and journey, making the presentation — in his phrases — a “salute to rampant capitalism.”
However this Google gaffe is not simply an Android-user problem, as Gemini might affect the way forward for Siri. Apple partnered with Google to build a better Siri, and no matter Apple shows off next will probably be constructed with assistance from Gemini’s fashions and programming. So on this week’s episode of One Extra Factor, embedded beneath, I study the great and unhealthy of the brand new Gemini Intelligence, and the way it would possibly mesh with what we would like from Apple Intelligence.
Until you want ordering meals, spin lessons and live performance tickets with AI, not a lot of what is new from Gemini will impress. (There have been even some voice instructions I might already do from my iPhone simply, like discovering late-night pizza joints.) Nonetheless, I am going to admit there have been two new Android options that would give iPhone house owners a bit of Android envy.
Spoiler: Reserving Costa Rican espresso and chocolate excursions for a celebration of six was not certainly one of them.
